12 FIRs lodged, 70 arrested in Jehanabad
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 imposed in the area on Thursday.
PATNA: The Jehanabad district administration lifted restrictions for five hours on Sunday for the residents to purchase essential commodities from the market. However, most of the shops remained closed and residents preferred to remain indoors. Internet services, however, remained snapped for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday.
Jehanabad SP Maneesh said people were allowed to open their shops and purchase essential commodities between 12 noon and 5pm.
So far, 12 FIRs have been lodged and over 70 persons arrested from two different communities. The prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC were clamped in the district headquarters town following violent clashes during idol immersion procession on Thursday last. The firing in trouble-torn Jaffarganj locality on Friday had claimed the life of a youth and left another injured. Since then, no fresh untoward incident has been reported. Senior police and administrative officials from state headquarters were still camping there.
