AGRA: An 11-year-old girl was murdered and her body dumped nearly half a km away from her home in a remote village of Etah district on Saturday.
The minor girl’s body was recovered by 5:30 pm. Third youngest among six siblings and only daughter of her parents, the girl hailed from Lohakhar village of Bagwala police jurisdiction.
After the incident, tension prevailed in the village and heavy police force was deployed to maintain law and order.
On Sunday, under police supervision, the girl’s body was cremated after conducting autopsy.
Station house officer of Bagawal, Dharmender Singh, said, “The post-mortem report did not confirm rape, but the girl had bruises and other injury marks near her waist, hand and face. She was smothered to death.”
Speaking to TOI on Sunday, Dev Anand circle officer of Etah said, “The girl’s mouth was gagged by her stole and it was also tightly wrapped around her neck. Her parents informed that she was last seen at 10:30 am as she had left home to give a bottle of water to her mother, who was reaping millet on their farmland.”
“The girl could not reach her mother. The matter came to light after the girl’s mother enquired about the minor to her father, and he informed her that she left home by 10:30 am. Later, the entire family and other villagers were engaged in search of the girl and her body was found hidden under bushes, some 500 metres away from her home. The girl was dragged into the bushes after being murdered. Five teams, including surveillance, are working on the case to identify the accused,” officer Anand added.
According to police, the family had no enmity and they are not suspecting anyone from the village. A few other angles are also being probed by the police.
