SECUNDERABAD: A two-year-old girl was kidnapped by an unidentified person on Monday when she was sleeping next to her father on the foot overbridge at Secunderabad railway station.
D Suresh, a labourer from Nellore in AP, lodged a complaint with Secunderabad railway police, stating that he reached the railway station on Sunday night, along with his two children, to board a train for Nellore on Monday morning.
Suresh and his kids went to sleep on the foot over bridge. Suresh woke up at 1am and noticed his daughter missing. He searched for her and later lodged a police complaint. Police checked CCTV footage at the railway station and saw a person, in his 20s, taking away the girl.
Police launched a manhunt for the accused and found out that he abandoned the girl at Monda Market. Locals told police that they saw a girl crying on the road at Bandimet near the railway station during the early hours and handed her to a police patrolling team.
“Locals dialled 100 and Market police shifted the girl to Sishu Vihar in Ameerpet. She is unharmed. The accused might have panicked and abandoned her. Our teams are searching for him,” Secunderabad railway inspector Adi Reddy said.
