SECUNDERABAD: In order to resolve various civic issues in the presence of officials of major utility government departments, deputy speaker, T Padma Rao will soon launch praja darbar in Secunderabad assembly constituency.
"The deputy speaker is making necessary arrangements to conduct this unique programme in a slum area. The date of the launch and name of the slum area will be announced soon. Padma Rao is keen to launch the programme next week," a close aide of the deputy speaker said.
Sources said that it was the first time that a city-based MLA, has taken initiative to launch a unique programme, to address grievances of the general public. Issues such as water problem, sanitation, stray dog menace, street lights, potholes repairs, contamination of water, open nalas, overflowing drains are some issues that are expected to be addressed.
Padma Rao is also keen to gauge the success of the TRS government's schemes such as the 2BHk housing scheme, Shadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi and Asra penisons, among the public through the programme. Petitions will be accepted on these issues and resolved on the spot.
In order to address the v issues, deputy speaker will invite senior officials of various government departments such as GHMC, HMWS&SB, TSSPDCL, revenue, health, education, SC, ST and BC welfare departments, to praja darbar for expert opinions.
During the assembly election campaigns, Padma Rao had assured the people that he would come up with a unique method to address their issues. Organising praja darbar is a step in that direction, a close aide explained.
However, political analysts are of the opinion that the TRS-led government is strategically timed the launch of praja darbar before a similar launch is made by Telangana governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan.
