UP: Four armed men loot Rs 13 lakh from HDFC Bank in Maharajganj
The bank had guards who were not armed hence they could not challenge the robbers who escaped unopposed.
LUCKNOW: Armed robbers took customers and bank staff at gun point and decamped with Rs 13 lakh from Anand Nagar branch of HDFC Bank under Farenda police station area of Maharajganj district on Thursday.
Inspector General of Police (Gorakhpur range) JN Singh told TOI that the bank had guards who were not armed hence they could not challenge the robbers who escaped unopposed.
“We have obtained CCTV footage of the crime and teams of crime branch have been assigned the job to nab the robbers,” said Singh.

According to the police, around 1.30pm, four unidentified men, two wearing helmets walked inside the bank premises. "Two of them trained a pistol at the cashier Shiv Ojha and asked him to hand over all the cash. Later, they took away the cash and threatened to shoot down anybody who tried to chase them,” said Ashutosh Singh, station officer, Farenda.
Superintendent of police, Maharajganj, Rohit Sajwan told journalists that the robbery seems to be handiwork of a gang which was involved in other heists too.
