Frank Ocean launching a super exclusive NYC queer club night

Frank Ocean is ready to party.

The “Thinkin Bout You” singer is starting an ongoing queer nightclub event called PrEP+ Thursday night in NYC.

It’s named after the pre-exposure prophylaxis preventive drug treatment often used by people — including gay and bisexual men — who are at higher risk of contracting HIV.

An announcement posted to the Gayletter Instagram and Twitter accounts says it will be a series of events “made to bring people together and dance.”

Ocean, who turns 32 on Oct. 28, was featured in a Gayletter interview earlier this year.

This first gathering, which starts at 10 p.m. at an undisclosed location, is “an homage to what could have been if the drug PrEP . . . had been invented” in the 1980s NYC club scene, says the post, which mentions it will feature “globally celebrated DJs” and includes a poster featuring an image of musician Joël Kurasinski.

There was no mention of whether Ocean would actually be in attendance. But don’t get your hopes up on finding out the actual venue anyway, much less crashing the door: Tickets for the seemingly exclusive party have already been “distributed.” Also don’t expect #FOMO to set in after seeing wild Instagram posts — photos and videos are banned.

The event also advises that “consent is mandatory” and there will be “zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form or discrimination.”

Two-time Grammy winner Ocean — whose last album dropped in 2016 —  is also working on new music, according to an interview with W magazine last month, and it seems to fall in line with his dance-party focus. “I’ve been interested in club, and the many different iterations of nightlife for music and songs,” he said. “And so the things I look at now have a lot to do with those scenes: Detroit, Chicago, techno, house, French electronic.”

Ocean made waves in 2012 when he opened up about his sexuality. In publicly acknowledging that his first love interest was of the same sex, he said at the time in a Tumbler post, “I feel like a free man.” In his earlier Gayletter interview, he said he has been in a relationship for three years.
