Redfest 2019 paints the town

MORNINGSIDE – Redhill School's annual Redfest Arts Festival celebrates the community with great food and art.

 


With the aim of providing young artists and performers with a platform, Redhill School hosted its fourth annual Redfest Arts Festival on 4 and 5 October. Filled with loads of vibrancy, talent and good food, the school campus came alive.

Redfest is an annual event hosted by the school in celebration of the country’s finest performers in the arts and food, with quite a few food trucks at the event. First created in 2016, Redfest has grown to become a household name, attended by families of all ages.

This year’s event saw an art exhibition by both Redhill learners and the along renowned theatre productions such as Renos Nicos Spandeous’ production of Strange Land, Kirsten Harris’ production of Born Naked and Dorothy Ann Gould’s Shakespeare in Hillbrow – to name a few.

Music acts included the Redhill Marimbas alongside acts such as Watershed, MiCasa and Matthew Mole.

The very special event, put together by school executive Joseph Gerassi, was a true celebration of the arts. “Our aim was to create both a celebration of the arts and a celebration of our spectacular community. We loved sharing each and every moment,” the school said.
