Journo murder: Weapon produced in Muzaffarpur court

The CBI, which is probing Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder case, produced the weapon used in the killing along with other evidences in a sealed envelope to the special MP/MLA court here on Thursday.

MUZAFFARPUR: The CBI, which is probing Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder case, produced the weapon used in the killing along with other evidences in a sealed envelope to the special MP/MLA court here on Thursday.
Ranjan was gunned down by armed miscreants near Railway Station Chowk under the Town police station area in Siwan district on May 13, 2016 when he was on his way home from his office on a motorbike.
A couple of days after the brutal killing, the state government handed over the case to the CBI.
Special court judge-cum-ADJ VI heard the matter and posted the case for next hearing on October 22. Giving details of the court proceedings, accused ex-MP Mohammad Shahabuddin’s legal counsel Sharad Sinha said the CBI produced the pistol along with cartridges of 7.65mm bore and pellets. The blood-stained soil, which was collected from the spot, was also showed to the court.
The then Siwan Town police station SHO Subodh Kumar verified the exhibits.
Sinha said Subodh’s cross examination will continue on the next date of hearing. Meanwhile, Shahabuddin and Azaharuddin Beg alias Laddan Mian deposed before the trial court through video conferencing, while rest of the accused were brought to the court from Shahid Khudi Ram Bose Central Jail, Muzaffarpur.
While Sahabuddin is lodged in Tihar Jail, Laddan is cooling his heels in the Bhagalpur Central jail.
