Six girls among seven children drowned in two separate incidents in Muzaffarpur district on Friday. Three of them belonged to one family.

Muzaffarpur: Six girls among seven children drowned in two separate incidents in Muzaffarpur district on Friday. Three of them belonged to one family.
Four girls drowned while bathing in the village pond at Bishunpur Baghnagari under Sakra police station area. They had gone there to graze their cattle, police sources said. They raised an alarm and some people around the pond rushed there to help but could not save the girls.
Sakra circle officer Pankaj Kumar said the victims belonged to below poverty line (BPL) families.
“They were students of the local high school,” he said, adding that compensation amount had been given to the aggrieved families. Sakra police station SHO Rajesh Kumar said the bodies were sent to S K Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur for autopsy. “The deceased have been identified as Khushbu Kumari (17), Razia Khatoon (15), Ajmeri Khatoon (15) and Najnieen (14),” he said.
In another incident, three children drowned while taking bath in Bagmati river near Rampur Hari village under Minapur police station area. Sub divisional officer (east) of Muzaffarpur, Kundan Kumar, said all the children were from a single family. “The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Kumar (12), Muskan Kumari (10) and Shivani Kumari (8).
