Bijnor cop suspended for ‘Romeogiri’

Police here have drawn fire over their anti-Romeo initiative with of one of their own personnel turning rogue. A constable who was posted at Kotwali Nagar police station here some months ago was suspended by Bijnor SP on Sunday for bringing a bad name to the force by harassing women and misbehaving with colleagues.

BIJNOR: Police here have drawn fire over their anti-Romeo initiative with of one of their own personnel turning rogue. A constable who was posted at Kotwali Nagar police station here some months ago was suspended by Bijnor SP on Sunday for bringing a bad name to the force by harassing women and misbehaving with colleagues.
Sources said several complaints of harassing women had piled up against constable Ashish Kumar.

Giving details, Sanjeev Tyagi, SP, said, “Constable, Ashish Kumar was maligning image of the police department. There were several complaints of harassing women against him. I had warned him several times but to no effect. Apart from this, he was not toeing departmental instructions and orders. Hence, he was suspended on Sunday.”
According to police officers, Kumar had attracted criticism from several quarters in the city for misusing his post. Some persons had complained against him. After several warnings to him went unheeded, he was suspended.
