Karnataka: Flash floods affect normal life in low lying areas in Shivamogga

SHIVAMOGGA: Several areas were affected due to heavy rain and floods and water gushed into houses at several low lying areas, causing hardship to people on Sunday night. Even as people were recovering from the recent floods, this spell of rain spread fear among residents. People stayed awake the whole night after the Tunga left bank canal water gushed into homes in certain areas.
The ongoing smart city project works had an impact on the smooth flow of water to drains. Several layouts in Hale Mandli and Ambedkar Nagar were affected after drainage and canal water entered homes. OT Road was inundated due to flash floods. Enraged over flooding, citizens protested against the City Corporation.
Several electronic items at home and offices were damaged due to the impact of thunder and lightning. About 50 television test were damaged in Gaadikoppa of Ward number 5.
KHB colony was inundated after Basavanagangooru lake started overflowing. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain till Tuesday.
