The Duchess of Sussex admitted it has been a "struggle" living in the public spotlight while juggling her life as a new mother and newlywed - and revealed her secret nickname for Prince Harry - during a documentary last night.

Meghan Markle made the admission during the behind-the-scenes film following the couple and their son Archie during their 10-day Royal Tour of Africa.

Wile speaking to ITV News anchor Tom Bradby, who has been friends with the royal brothers for more than a decade,  on ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, she said: "Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant, you're really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a new born - you know...

"And especially as a woman, it's a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed...

"And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes."

Mr Bradby added: "And the answer is, would it be fair to say, not really OK, as in it's really been a struggle?", to which the Duchess said "Yes".

Adorable nickname

Meghan Markle also let slip her adorable secret nickname for  Prince Harry.

Meghan had a big smile on her face and giggled when she revealed she calls Harry by the nickname 'H'.

Meghan said: "I’ve said for a long time to H..."

After a slight pause, she added: "That's what I call him."

Baby Archie on screen

There were also some rare glimpses of baby Archie, who was very "chatty" during his time in South Africa.

They introduced their four-month-old son to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe at a tea party in September.

Meghan said: "It's not lost on us what a huge and significant moment this is. I think Archie will look back on that in so many years and realise at the beginning of his life he was fortunate enough to have that moment with one of the most inspirational leaders of our time."
