Suri: A local CPM leader missing since Friday was found dismembered on Monday, his body parts buried in Dubrajpur police station limits around 70km from his home in
Birbhum’s Basapara village.
Police found 58-year-old Subhas Chandra Dey’s body parts buried in a field on the bank of the Ajay river. A couple was arrested in connection with the murder.
Accused Matiur Rahaman and his wife Sonali Bibi confessed to the crime, police said.
They were known to Dey, an LIC agent, as Sonali’s parental home was near his in Basapara.
According to police, Dey’s extramarital affair with Rahaman’s wife was the motive for the murder.
Dey’s family refuted the claim that he had any extramarital relationship with the accused woman.
Dey was one of the accused in the Suchpur mass murder case. He was convicted in the district court, but was acquitted by the high court.
