Transport trounce Bel Air by innings and 29 runs

Transport Sports Club (TSC) recorded an innings and 29-run win over Bel Air Rubis at the Queen’s College Ground in the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Noble House Seafoods, second-division, two-day competition at the weekend. 

 Bel Air, batting first, were dismissed for 84 in 30 overs with the consistent Mark Baptiste capturing 3-13. Rafael Singh (3-21) and Shaun Massiah (2-4) were the other major wicket takers. 

 TSC in their first innings reply made 219 all out securing  a first innings lead of 135.Devaughn Nandan (70) struck another half century which included 10 sixes and two fours.

Nandan got useful support from Kevin Ross (38) and Nabeel Ali (36 not out). Dillon Hamilton (4-32) and Devindra Persaud (3-42) shared seven wickets between them. 

 Starting at a 135-run deficit, Bel Air were  once again shot out for a paltry score,  this time for 106 in 34.3 overs. Only Devindra Persaud (17) showed any signs of countering the bowlers Baptiste (3-30) Kevin Ross (2-30), Rafael Singh (2-12) and Ajay Gainda (2-14) all of whom delivered handy spells. 

 Meanwhile, over at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground, the host and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) played to a draw after the latter grabbed first innings points.

 GDF batted first and posted a mammoth 297 before being dismissed with Deamon Whitney cracking an unbeaten 84, missing out on a well-deserved century. 

The consistent Damian Waldron (73) and Randy Lindore (49) both played critical hands as national youth spinner Niran Bissu (5-84) picked up a five wicket haul. 

 MYO in their first innings, made 130 in 36 overs, surrendering first innings honours.

Avinash Rajkumar (25) and Bissu (25) ended as the top scorers.

Waldron returned with the ball to capture 5-29 to complete a brilliant all-round effort. 

 GDF opted to enforce the follow on which saw MYO reaching 136 for six in 34 overs before both captains agreed to call off the encounter with one over remaining in the day’s play. 

Kemraj Ramdeen was left unbeaten on 61 as Waldron (3-28) captured three more wickets to end with the match two wickets shy of a ten-wicket haul. 

Travis Marcellino (3-48) was also among the wickets.
