TOP CITY SCHOOLS QUIZ THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS

Hard work, intelligence and good strategy were on display at the premiere edition of the Times Interschool Quiz Competition, Bengaluru, 2019, presented by NumberNagar®. This first of its kind knowledge initiative by the Times Group, attracted the brightest minds from leading education institutions across the city. Over the past month, more than 35000 students participated in the preliminary intra-school rounds of the quiz that were held at over 51 top schools in Bangalore.
With the top three teams from each school qualifying, around 135 teams were part of the grand semi-final, which was followed by an on-stage mega final with the sharpest six teams of the day.

The finale was a grand affair set at Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall, on Thursday 26th September. Top quizzers with their parents and teachers in tow descended to prove their mettle and win laurels for their schools. The auditorium was full and buzzing with scores of people.

Oxfordcaps and Giraffe Learning also made impactful contributions to the event as associate partners. While Red FM kept the energy levels up as the radio partner, Nandhana Palace fuelled the mind and body as the food partner.
Greycells - an award-winning quiz and events company led by its founder and ace quiz master Gautam Bose helmed the event with great aplomb, over the last month. Greycells is India’s foremost event management company which specializes in activation programs for the education and corporate sector and effectively uses quiz events as a tool for audience engagement and alternative learning.

The much-awaited event began post lunch with the participation of 45 schools with 3 teams each. Ear-splitting cheers and thundering claps filled the hall as ace quiz master Gautam Bose took to the stage with his trademark humour that laced supremely-crafted questions. The written semi-finals were keenly contested and students confidently answered the questions thrown at them. The topics spanned subjects like science and technology, history, India and its heritage, current affairs, sports and entertainment, top personalities and more.

Dr R Ravichandar, MD, Nandhana Palace presented the award to 2nd Runner Up, ST. Pauls English School, J.P.Nagar
While BGS National Public School, Hulimavu, Presidency School, RT Nagar (2 teams), St Pauls English School, JP Nagar, Gopalan International School and Sishu Griha Montessori and High School made it to the finals, it was ultimately BGS National Public School which walked away with top honours, winning prize money of Rs. 1 lakh. Presidency School and St Pauls English School placed as 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively, receiving cheques for Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000, respectively.
There wasn’t a single dull moment as Gautam ensured the huge audience was thoroughly entertained with surprise questions posed to kids, teachers and parents. All those with right answers, walked away with gifts.

The winners were felicitated by Sriraghavan S M, Co-Founder, President, NumberNagar® – Academics, who said “I am really very impressed with the way you guys have made this evening happen for us. And I look forward to having many such meaningful learning experiences with the kids and you guys. All the best, and all of you have a lot of fun”. The entertainment did not stop with the quiz, as RJ Zeishah Amlani from Red FM had the children hooked with her interaction where children had to give wrong answers for the questions posed. The students came up with weird answers and won a lot of gifts.

The participants truly enjoyed displaying their intelligence and skills and walked away from the event eagerly awaiting the second edition of Times Interschool Quiz Competition next year.
