Newcastle United are reportedly one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the progress of Aaron Hickey.

The teenage Hearts defender made his debut last season against Celtic and has established himself as a first-team regular this season.

A number of scouts were reportedly in attendance for Hearts' 1-1 draw with Rangers at Tynecastle on Sunday.

And the Scottish Sun has named United as one of several Premier League sides interested in the 17-year-old full back.

The title has also credited Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Norwich City, and Southampton with an interest in Hickey.

QPR are reportedly considering a £1.5m swoop for the defender, while opponents Rangers are also believed to be monitoring his progress.

Hickey only made his debut in May this year away at Aberdeen, before making his first start the following week at Celtic Park.

The full back became the youngest ever player to feature in a Scottish Cup final when he played the full 90 minutes in the defeat to Celtic at Hampden Park.

The youngster's late winner in the Edinburgh derby at Hibernian in September was his first goal for the club.

Hickey has been called up Scotland's under-19s squad this season and has previously been a member of the under-17s squad.
