Liverpool have praised Manchester United for their response after a home supporter was ejected from Old Trafford for allegedly aiming racist abuse at Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The incident happened during the second half of the Reds' 1-1 Premier League draw on Sunday .

Security guards in the Stretford End threw out the fan after several other United fans drew their attention to the abuse.

It is alleged the fan was ejected after calling Alexander-Arnold a “f***ing black c***”.

Liverpool expressed their support for the manner in which United dealt with the issue.

A club statement said: “We welcome the swiftness with which Manchester United have launched an investigation and support their stance that racism and discrimination must be treated with zero tolerance.”

As stated by The Times, United have reported the incident to Greater Manchester Police and if the fan is found guilty, he will be banned by the club for life.

United will also give the Greater Manchester Police access to CCTV footage to help with their inquires.
