A brand new Aldi supermarket is set to open its doors in West Bromwich and the first few customers are in for a treat.

Taking over a huge retail space on Tildasley Street , it will be the first time the supermarket giant and opened a store in the town.

It officially opens at 8am on Thursday, November 21, where Olympic Bronze Medallist, Joel Fearon, will in attendance to cut the ribbon.

At the launch, the first 30 customers through the door will be given a complimentary bag of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range.

Greencore, Aldi’s Food to Go supplier, will be also be offering free tasters to customers over the lunchtime period.

The new store spans a 1,315 sqm of retail space and has created a number of new job opportunities for the area.

Aldi West Bromwich will offer large chillers and freezers dedicated to fresh, British meat products, a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store, a fixture along the back wall showcasing Aldi’s award-winning Beers, Wines and Spirits, and an exclusive section full of Health & Beauty products.

Customers can expect to find Aldi’s exclusive Specially Selected range, weekly fresh meat offers and famous Super 6 fruit and vegetables at the new store. Aldi’s Specialbuys will also be available every Thursday and Sunday, offering value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

Aldi Store Manager, Liam Jones, said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store on Tildasley Street. It’s set to be a special day as we’ll be celebrating the opening of Aldi’s first store in West Bromwich and having Olympic hero, Joel Fearon, join us will make it a morning to remember.”

Bobsleigh star, Joel Fearon, added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store, it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its endless support of Team GB.”

Additionally, the new Aldi store is calling on local charities and food banks in West Bromwich to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in their community, to receive regular donations of surplus food from the supermarket.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week.
