'It was quite scary', says witness

One witness told how the saw police with guns and sniffer dogs in the area at around 10.30pm last night.

I was taking my dogs for a walk at around 10.30pm when I saw armed response police everywhere. There were around four vehicles and lots of officers with weapons. There were police dogs going up and down the whole road and they cordoned off the whole road from the primary school to Queensferry. Nobody was allowed to pass through.

The road to the steelworks is still taped off and you can’t get up there. It’s shocking - this is a nice town. A lot of people were really concerned and were coming out of their homes but then when they realised it was quite serious they were getting back in for fear of safety. It was quite scary”
