IITs dominate in QS India University rankings, IIT Bombay leads the pack

KOLKATA: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) rule the roost in the QS India University Rankings released on Tuesday, with seven of them figuring among the top 10 institutes. IIT Bombay is the top-rated Indian institute for the second time running, with IISc Bangalore continuing in second place.
The other institutes in the top 10 include IIT Delhi (3rd), IIT Madras (4th), IIT Kharagpur (5th), IIT Kanpur (6th), University of Delhi (7th), University of Hyderabad (8th), IIT Roorkee (9th) and IIT Guwahati (10th).

Among the top 10, IIT Delhi and University of Delhi have moved up one spot each, while the reverse has happened in the case of IIT Madras and University of Hyderabad.

This is the second standalone ranking of India's higher education institutions from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the global higher education think tank behind the QS World University Rankings. The rankings include Public Universities, Private Universities and H.E. Institutions or Deemed Universities. The number of institutes included in the list has been extended from the top 75 to top 100 this time. 157 institutions were evaluated and 29 new entrants featured.
