Alesha Dixon has opened up on keeping her second pregnancy private for six months, before Britain's Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec announced the news on-air in May.

The judge revealed her blossoming baby bump on the show, not having confirmed she was pregnant prior to this.

Asides viewers getting cute glimpses of her bump throughout the show and during Britain's Got Talent: The Champions last month, Alesha did not confirm she had welcomed her baby daughter until almost two months later.

As she prepares for her new role across the pond on America's Got Talent: The Champions, Simon Cowell's co-star has explained why she kept quiet about her baby joy, and how she found her second pregnancy more "relaxing".

She said on Lorraine: "I managed to go six months keeping it quiet… I don’t go out of my way to keep it quiet.

"I never feel this strong need to declare everything. I think everything in it’s time. I think the way the pregnancy was announced with Ant and Dec on the show was just really sweet, obviously at that point I couldn’t hide it any more.”

On motherhood, Alesha continued: "When I had Azura I didn’t leave the house for about two months, here I am Anaya is two months and I’m already in America, I’m working and it all feels right and it feels good.

“I don’t know if it’s just the fact that she’s my second and I’m more relaxed but I’m happy so nothing feels stressful.”

Talking about getting back into shape two months on from giving birth, Alesha confessed she was more focused on getting as much sleep as possible.

She said: “I’ve always allowed myself to let my body to do what is naturally does. I’ve not gone on any silly diets. I think getting help has really helped, having my mum around.

"Sleep is everything. Honestly, when you have more than five hours sleep with a new born baby, you can take on the world.”

Alesha said she wasn't planning on adding to her brood, but said "never say never".

She explained as presenter Terri asked her if she wanted a baby boy: "You sound like Azura, literally two weeks after having the baby, ‘Mummy, I think it’s time for a brother now don’t you?'.

"‘I don’t think so darling, I think mummy is done’.”

She added: “Who knows, one thing I’ve learnt in life, is never say never.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30am on ITV.
