LUCKNOW: Three days after meeting the family of slain Hindu Samaj Party president Kamlesh Tewari, chief minister Yogi Adityanath sanctioned Rs 15 lakh as financial aid and announced that the family will be given a house in Sitapur’s Mehmoodabad tehsil.
Later in the day, district magistrate of Sitapur, Akhilesh Tiwari, handed over a cheque of Rs 15 lakh to Tewari’s wife Kiran on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government.

Tewari, who was murdered on October 18, was cremated a day later but only when the government gave the family a written assurance to fulfil their demands including a job, financial aid, a house and arms licence for Tewari’s eldest son.
“The CM issued directions to provide Rs 15 lakh to Tewari’s wife for immediate assistance and a house in Sitapur district’s Mehmoodabad tehsil. Other promises will also be fulfilled shortly,” said an official. CM Yogi instructed officers to ensure that a tight case is presented against the main accused and the trial is conducted in a fast-track court while also ensuring that strict action is taken against those who were part of the conspiracy to kill Tewari.
