Read TOI’s campaign on Secunderabad for a reality check: Telangana HC

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court, on Thursday, appreciated TOI’s Secunderabad campaign and its efforts in highlighting the problems of the people across the twin cities .
The bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy, while hearing PILs on dengue, told chief secretary SK Joshi, health secretary Santa Kumari, municipal administration secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar and others who were present in the court under a direction from the bench that they will know more ground realities if they go through the series of news items as part of the Secunderabad campaign.

The CJ pulled out a page from Thursday’s TOI and read out portions from stories on dysfunctional sewer lines in Secunderabad and sewage woes of Secunderabadis.
So, the CJ said asked civic authorities to take note of all such problems and also sought to know from the bureaucrats present in the court hall if any of them was listening to these voices of the people.
“You read the columns of TOI and you will know what is happening in the streets of Hyderabad and Secunderabad,” the CJ said, adding, “You can make use of this information to reach out to people and in your fight against diseases.”
He also told everyone present that he would henceforth hold weekly reviews on how they were responding to the woes of the people.
