GAYA: More than 1,000 teaching and non-teaching employees working in the 19 constituent colleges of Magadh University (MU) will now have to seek prior permission from their principals to visit the Bodh Gaya headquarters of the varsity. The colleges are spread across five districts of Magadh division including Arwal and Nawada.
According to a notification issued by MU registrar Jagat Singh, college employees can’t leave their work place during working hours without the permission of the principal and this ban includes visit to the university headquarters without prior permission.

The notification issued on the direction of vice- chancellor Rajendra Prasad further stated that the principals will have to ensure strict compliance of the order and those violating it will be subjected to strict disciplinary action. University sources said the direction has been issued following receipts of complaint stating that college employees indulge in insubordination and roam around during working hours. They also claimed that a recent decision to introduce biometric attendance in university headquarters and colleges only have a limited impact as the tendency to go out after marking attendance and report at the departure time has been noticed.
In the meantime, the MU VC also made it clear that self-styled student leaders have no place in the university’s scheme of things. Sources said that as the VC was about to leave the premises of Gaya College on Thursday after attending a function, a group of young men claiming to be student leaders wanted to have a talk with the VC.
Agreeing to the demand, the VC asked the delegation members to produce their identity cards. However, none of the ‘leaders’ could establish their identity as a bonafide student of the college. Dubbing the group as trespassers, the VC, according to sources, warned the group against such misadventure in future.
