Muzaffargarh woman douses niece, two others with acid for refusing marriage proposal

MUZAFFARGARH: A woman allegedly doused her niece and two others with acid here in Mudwala neighbourhood of the Alipur tehsil after the young girl refused the marriage proposal of her son, rescue authorities said Monday.
According to rescue officials, the woman suspect was furious after the girl turned down the marriage proposal and, spurned, she threw acid on three people, including the girl, her father Azam, and two-and-a-half-year-old boy. She then fled the scene.
All three were immediately shifted to the tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital of Alipur, where medical practitioners, however, referred the girl to Nishtar Hospital Multan — a burn and plastic surgery centre — due to her critical condition.
On the other hand, Muzaffargarh police said they have started an investigation into the matter and raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.
