Light to moderate rainfall forecast for Gujarat

According to the meteorological department, the very severe cyclonic storm 'Kyarr' lay about 1100 kilometers west-northwest of Mumbai and is expected to recurve west-southwestwards and move towards Socotra islands during the next four days.

Light to moderate rainfall has been forecast at isolated places in South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions of the state on Thursday.

According to the meteorological department, the very severe cyclonic storm ‘Kyarr’ lay about 1100 kilometers west-northwest of Mumbai and is expected to recurve west-southwestwards and move towards Socotra islands during the next four days.

Due to the cyclonic system, the state will continue to get rainfall at isolated places. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers have been forecast for districts like Anand, Vadodara, Narmada, Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Bharuch and in Diu and Daman. Similarly, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar and Amreli are also expected to receive showers on Thursday.

On Wednesday, heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Gujarat including Anand Surendranagar and Morbi districts.
