UP: Former gram pradhan shot dead in Firozabad

AGRA: A former gram pradhan of Firozabad district was allegedly shot dead by incumbent pradhan and three other men after the victim made complaint against the accused for involving in corrupt practices to gain monetary benefits.
The incident took place in Kataura village of Jasrana police jurisdiction on Tuesday night, when the victim identified as Virendra Sharma was returning back to home from farm field. Based on victim’s brother Ashok Kumar, an FIR was lodged against the incumbent pradhan Maan Singh, his brother Sishupal Singh, son Rajesh and nephew Harendra under IPC section 302 (murder).
After the murder, SDM Jasrana Kumar Chand, SP rural Rajesh Kumar, CO Jasrana OP Singh and CO Shikohabad Ajay Singh Chauhan along with heavy police force reached village to maintain law and order.

Circle officer Jasrana, OP Singh said, “The victim and accused had old rivalry. Deceased Virendra Sharma blew the whistle against the incumbent pradhan Maan Singh over the discrepancies in the development work of village, after which block development officer sent a team to investigate the matter.”
He said, “Our police team is conducting raids at every possible locations to arrest the named accused and ascertain the exact motive behind murder.”
