HYDERABAD: A first-of-its kind ‘science corridor’ will be developed between
Secunderabad East and Nagole Metro stations to create scientific temper in citizens, especially children. As part of it, promotional activities, especially theme-based science and technology exhibitions, will be organised at some metro stations.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop the science corridor between Secunderabad East and Nagole Metro stations at Hyderabad Metro Rail Bhavan.
Conceived by HMRL MD NVS Reddy and IICT director S Chandrasekhar, the MoU for the unique initiative was signed by IICT’s senior principal scientist D Shailaja, HMRL general manager B N Rajeshwar and L&TMRHL company secretary Chandrachud D Paliwal. Speaking on the occasion, NVS Reddy said, “HMRL and L&TMRHL have tied up with IICT to develop a science corridor in the city to create scientific temper in the common public and children in particular.”
Reddy said it was also contemplated to organise scientific promotional activities like theme-based science and technology exhibitions at a few metro stations. Thanking HMRL MD for considering their request to develop a science corridor, IICT director S Chandrasekhar said, “It is for the first time in the country that an exclusive science corridor is being developed to inspire young minds.”
