LUCKNOW: Four men were caught with 250kg of cattle meat in Saadatganj while two men were arrested for illegally transporting 20 cattle in Banthra on Thursday. All six have been booked under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
Saadatganj SHO Mahesh Pal Singh said Vavan (32), Saif Ali (23), Vakiv (21), residents of Saadatganj, and Farhan (32) of Bazar Khala, were arrested with 250kg of cattle meat in a car, two country-made guns and five .315 bore bullets besides Rs 45,000 in cash.
The accused have been booked under Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and Arms Act. "We are tracing three absconding accused, Rahil, Mohsin and Khalid," SHO said.
The arrests were made following a tip-off about a gang selling prohibited meat. Meanwhile, Banthra SHO Ramesh Singh said Afzal (28) and Papu (27), residents of Auraiya, were arrested for illegally transporting 20 prohibited cattle from Etawah to Bihar in a truck.
Three cattle were found dead in the truck and a country-made gun and two .315 bore bullets were recovered from Afzal.
