Patna: BSP leader booked for 'abusing' PM Modi, posting fake video on WhatsApp group

PATNA: Police have lodged an FIR against a BSP leader named Ram Pravesh Yadav for allegedly abusing PM Narendra Modi besides sharing a fake video on WhatsApp group which also has some police officers as its members.
Yadav allegedly shared the video of a police mock drill and claimed that the central government ordered firing on youths protesting against privatisation.
The FIR was lodged against Yadav with Paliganj police station on October 30 on the basis of a complaint given by BJP’s OBC morcha district president (rural) Ravi Kumar.

According to FIR, Yadav is a local scribe at Paliganj. Sources said he is also in-charge of BSP’s Pataliputra Lok Sabha seat and is planning to contest assembly elections scheduled next year.
According to FIR and its annexure, Yadav had posted a video and a forwarded a text which read: “Government opened fire on students protesting against privatisation. Complete autocracy in India. What is happening under the Modi government. They want to transform India into North Korea. All youths are requested to share the video on large scale.”
After police lodged the FIR, Yadav also submitted a complaint with Paliganj police station on Thursday alleging Ravi Kumar had taken Rs 25,000 from him several months back and was yet return it.

When asked, Paliganj police station SHO Ashwini Kumar told TOI over phone on Friday that FIR was yet to be lodged on Yadav’s complaint as matter was under investigation.
Paliganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Pandey said Yadav had shared an objectionable video along with which he also used abusive language against PM Modi.
“I am also a member of that WhatsApp group in which the video was shared. It is for interaction between police and common people and sharing news of Paliganj and neighbouring areas,” Pandey said.
He said Kumar later submitted a written complaint in connection with the matter after which FIR was lodged.
“Investigation were going on to ascertain cellphone number’s ownership used for posting comments and videos and by whom it was being used at present. Further action would be taken only after police procures these details,” he said.
