UP: Five men die after inhaling toxic fumes in Sultanpur

LUCKNOW: Five men died from toxic fumes while renovating a septic tank in Sultanpur district on Friday evening. The incident took place in Katghara Patti village under Dostpur police station area.
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath offered condolences. The district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
Those killed were identified as Rajesh Nishad (32), Ashok Nishad (40), Ravindra Nishad (25), Mohammed Sharif (52), and Ram Kishan (40), while, Vinod Nishad (22) is being treated at a local CHC in Sultanpur.

Police said that around 4.30pm, Ram Kishan, a mason was renovating the septic tank at the residence of Ram Tirath. Suddenly, Kishan fell into the tank and started crying for help.
"Hearing Kishan's cries for help, Ashok, Ravindra, Mohammed Sharif and Vinod jumped into the tank. All of them suffocated to death. Vinod was the last to enter the tank to help the others.” said Arvind Pandey, SHO, Dostpur.
Later, with the help of villagers and police, bodies of all the deceased were recovered and taken to community health centre in Dostpur, where five were declared brought dead but Vinod has survived.
DM Sultanpur, Indumati, announced compensation for the kin of the deceased persons.
