SECUNDERABAD: Nearly three months after the Secunderabad Cantonment Board went down heavily on illegal hoardings and flexis, banners and posters of politicians wishing birthday and festive greetings have resurfaced in many parts of Tirmulgherry, Alwal and Bowenpally.
Many of these flexi banners have emerged on the stretch from Tirmulgherry to Lothakunta. Erected on the road dividers by supporters of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, these flexis have also cropped up on electric poles and street lights poles.
Rectangular posters and flex banners are seen tied to the poles offering birthday greetings to a political leader.
“Ahead of a local political leader’s birthday on November 1, many hoardings and posters wishing him were erected all over the place. They were tied to electricity poles on the road dividers. Clearly, the authorities have not learnt a lesson from the Chennai incident where a girl lost her life due to one such flexi,” said Sandeep Koutu, a resident of Yapral.
For instance, Sardar Patel road has several hoardings erected on metro pillars. Similar posters are also erected on the Ameerpet-Begumpet stretch. It maybe recalled that there have been instances in the recent times wherein flexis and hoardings had fallen on metro rail tracks thereby disrupting the services .
Residents rue that flexis on busy roads and metro pillars are accident hazard and officials should woek towards removing them.
