The Comedia Musica Players will perform “Catch Me If You Can” on Thursday, Friday and Nov. 9.

As a teen, Frank Abagnale Jr. ran away from home to begin an amazing adventure, seeking fame and fortune. Barely a man, with his boyish charm, big imagination, and millions of dollars in forged checks, he successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer! While he is living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams, Brenda Strong, Frank Jr. is being chased around the country by FBI Agent Carl Hanratty. Carl finally catches up with Frank to make him pay for his crimes, but not before Frank treats the audience to his story “Live In Living Color!”

Nominated for four Tony awards, including Best Musical, this show is based on the hit movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It was created by a Tony Award-winning “dream team,” with a book by Terrence McNally (“The Full Monty,” “Ragtime”) and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (“Hairspray”). Ultimately, the movie and the musical are based on the real-life Frank Abagnale Jr who lived this life of crime from the ages of 16 to 21. While some of what is included in the movie and musical are exaggerated, the real Frank Abagnale Jr wrote checks in the amount of $2.5 million and did successfully impersonate various white collar professionals before being arrested and serving five years of a 12-year prison term. He went on to work for the FBI as a consultant and then started his own agency, educating corporations, financial institutions and government organizations on how to detect and handle fraud such as what he had committed.

Catch Me If You Can will be performed at Decker Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, plus a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Advanced seating tickets are on sale at Choice Printing, 1012 First Ave. N., through 3 p.m. on Thursday, and through the Comedia Musica Players website. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Doors open one hour prior to a performance. Admission is $15 for adults, $8 for child/student tickets. Email info@comediamusica.com or visit www.comediamusica.com for more information.
