Nine-year-old gang-raped in Madhubani, two arrested

PATNA: A nine-year-old girl was lured and subsequently gang-raped by four youths at a village under Bisfi police station area in Madhubani district on Thursday evening, police said on Friday.
The incident took place when the survivor, a student of Class II in a government school, was playing outside her house around 5 pm on Thursday. As the family members were busy in Chhath preparations which began on Thursday, four youths lured the girl on the pretext of giving her toffee.They then took her to a secluded place and raped her.
The girl with blood oozing out from her private parts complained of severe pain when she returned home in late the evening. The mother took her to a nearby doctor, who revealed that the victim’s private parts had suffered serious injuries. Subsequently, she was rushed to the primary health centre from where she was referred to Madhubani sadar hospital for treatment.
Bisfi police station SHO Umesh Paswan said on Friday that medical report has confirmed the rape. “The survivor was examined by a team of doctors, who, prima facie confirmed the rape. Blood stained clothes of the victim will be sent to the state forensic science laboratory for further examination,” he told this newspaper over phone.
The SHO further said that two of the tormentors, Ramesh Yadav and Sonu Yadav, both stated to be neighbours of the victim, were arrested on Friday and subsequently produced in the court, which remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days. “Raids are on to arrest the two other accused in the case. They are stated to be absconding after the incident,” the SHO added.
The girl’s condition, however, deteriorated late on Thursday night. “We are closely monitoring her health condition. She was bleeding profusely when admitted to the hospital yesterday,” a doctor attending her said. The minor’s father was not present when the incident happened. “He works as a daily wager outside the state,” the SHO said.
