All agri procurement suspended by state govt

The state government has suspended all procurement from farmers till November 15 owing to unseasonal rains in the state. This includes groundnut crop that was being procured on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Festive offer

Announcing the halt in procurement, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, “The procurement that we had started based on MSP is being suspended till November 15. This is being done because the agricultural produce is getting wet when the farmer brings it or after the government buys it.” The chief minister said the government would prepare a new procurement timetable after November 15. The government had procured groundnut on Friday and Saturday, he added.

A detailed survey of crop loss is being conducted and farmers will be compensated accordingly, Rupani said, referring to damage caused by unseasonsal rains from Cyclone Kyarr.
