A 31-year-old man was robbed of his belongings, including a laptop, by unidentified men whom he offered a lift on the Aurangabad-Pune highway.

AURANGABAD: A 31-year-old man was robbed of his belongings, including a laptop, by unidentified men whom he offered a lift on the Aurangabad-Pune highway.
The complainant Umesh Chondiya, a resident of Saraswati Colony of Gevrai in Beed district, told police that he travelled to different places in Bajajnagar, Pandharpur and Aurangabad city on Thursday for marketing of oil and grease products.

Later at night when he started for Newasa, he took a halt at Saptashrungi temple when four youths requested for lift and got in his car.
The suspects soon drew out sharp-edged weapons, threatened Chondiya of dire consequences and robbed him of his belongings including a gold earring, gold ring, Rs 7000 cash, a laptop and both the cellphones.
Police said that the victim owns an oil agency and was heading towards Ahmednagar when the incident took place. Based on the complaint, the Waluj police have registered a case of robbery against four persons and have launched a manhunt to nab the suspects.
Police suspect the involvement of local youths in the crime. As per the preliminary probe, three of the suspects stepped in the car while their accomplice kept a track about the movement of police on the highway.
Sources in the police department said that the police have begun the technical surveillance of the stolen electronic and communication gadgets.
