CJI Ranjan Gogoi: NRC a base for future, not a document of the moment

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi Sunday said the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam was not the document of the moment but a base for the future. “This is an occasion to put things in proper perspective, National Register of Citizens (NRC), as it may finally emerge, is not a document of the moment. 19 lakh or 40 lakh is not the point. It’s base document for future,” ANI quoted Gogoi as saying.

Tis Hazari clash: Delhi HC orders judicial inquiry, says no coercive action against any lawyer

No coercive action shall be taken against any lawyer involved in the clash with the police at Tis Hazari court, the Delhi High Court said Sunday. The High Court has also ordered judicial inquiry by one of its retired judges into the clash and directed the Delhi Police chief to transfer Special Commissioner Sanjay Singh and Additional DCP Harinder Singh pending probe into the matter.
