PATNA: Begusarai district has topped in online reporting of classroom activities and updating exam sheets of students under the state government’s ‘Unnayan Bihar’ programme. The status of online reporting on mobile application ‘Unnayan Teacher’ was released on Thursday by Bihar Education Project Council, a unit of state education department.
According to the report, there are altogether 163 government schools in Begusarai and all these schools update their activities on mobile application on daily basis.

Under the Unnayan project, students of government-run schools are taught through online and offline methods with the help of television sets. The project was launched in 5,596 secondary schools (for classes IX and X) on September 5 (Teachers’ Day) by CM Nitish Kumar.
Kishanganj and Arwal secured the second and third ranks, respectively, in online reporting of school activities under the new teaching system. Altogether 114 and 48 schools have been teaching through digital platform in Kishanganj and Arwal, respectively. Altogether 107 schools in Kishanganj and 46 in Arwal are reporting on Unnayan Teacher app.
State programme officer of BEPC Kiran Kumari directed the district education officers (DEOs) and district programme officers (DPOs) to ensure 100% online reporting of status of Unnayan Bihar on mobile app.
“Of 5,596 schools, only 3,895 are reporting on regular basis while 1,701 are not updating their activities regarding digital classes. Hence, the DEOs and DPOs should contact the school principals and nodal officers to make sure they update information on mobile application to improve the education system,” Kiran wrote in a letter.

She added, “The mobile application is to obtain overall performance analysis of students along with generation of report card of each student.”
According to data, Purnia, Buxar and Patna are among the least reporting districts in Bihar. Almost 60% schools in the three districts are not updating any information on ongoing digital classes. Of 274 schools in Patna, 96 have zero performance on mobile application.
The Unnayan initiative has been launched to improve quality of education through integration of technology with a focus on ensuring continuous monitoring and accountability in the system.
Under this initiative, mobile technology and ICT is applied to create an education ecosystem which enables teachers to be effective. It also improves the quality of course delivery and brings about efficiency through established monitoring and evaluation framework.
