KALYAN: An
economic offences wing (EOW) team did not find any
gold on opening the second
Goodwin Jewellers shop in Thane’s Naupada area that was sealed by local police, raising their doubts about the owners’ “intention to cheat investors before fleeing”. The investigators are yet to open a digital locker found in the
shop though.
Earlier on Friday, the team had similarly opened a
Dombivli shop where, too, they did not found any valuables.
Goodwin’s chairman A M Sunilkumar and his brother A M Sudheeshkumar recently shut 13 of their shops and claimed in audio as well as video messages that their intention was to not cheat investors and they would refund the money.
Sanjay Jadhav, deputy commissioner of police, EOW, Thane, said, “Missing jewellery at the shops clearly indicates the owners’ intention to cheat investors.”
A police team has left for Trichur in Kerala, the native place of the accused. The probe is being monitored by Thane police’s Vivek Phansalkar who has directed cops to take investor complaints.
