PATNA: The city residents were all praise for the arrangements made for Chhath at Ganga ghats, especially at Digha-Patipul, Digha 88 and 93, Collectorate Ghat, Kali Ghat and Gandhi Ghat.
Rajeev Nagar resident Aditi Mishra said there were sufficient lights along the ghats to make movement easier even after sunset. “Also, there were many volunteers and policemen to guide the devotees,” she said, adding, “I wish our ghats remained so clean throughout.”
Nikita Singh of Machhua Toli said the large number of police personnel on duty instilled a sense of security in the minds of people.

Taking a sigh of relief after hectic days of preparations for Chhath, DM Kumar Ravi said ensuring safety was the prime agenda. “Because of soil erosion and receding water, many parts on the ghats were swampy and it was a challenge for us to get these places ready for the devotees. Apart from safety, we focused on cleanliness and lighting,” said Ravi, who also appreciated the efforts made by the officials as well as the volunteers of different puja committees for playing important roles.
Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) workers were seen cleaning the ghats after the morning arghya on Sunday. PMC public relations officer SK Mishra said 15 employees were deployed at each ghat for cleanliness and they would be stationed in their designated areas till Monday.
Patna divisional commissioner Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said the officials roped in for Chhath will be felicitated for their hard work. Sanjay also congratulated Patna DM Ravi, SSP Garima Malik and PMC commissioner Amit Kumar Pandey for their leadership. “All the nodal officers and sector officers were found on duty. Even magistrates deployed in control rooms along with police officials did a great job,” read a press statement issued by the commissioner’s office.
Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi also cherished the efforts made by the officials as well as different departments for their role in making Chhath.
