Velair tahsildar M Rajani and revenue employees submit a representation to Warangal urban collector Prashant Patil against Mallikudurla sarpanch G Raji Reddy for threatening Rajani
HYDERABAD: While the Vijaya Reddy episode has sent shock waves, another woman tahsildar was in the crosshairs of a sarpanch who warned her of dire consequences. This incident took place in Warangal urban district on Monday. Following the threats issued to Velair tahsildar M Rajani by sarpanch of Mallikudurla village Godela Raji Reddy, revenue employees staged a protest at her office and raised slogans against him.
It all began at 8 am when Raji Reddy went to Rajani’s house in KLN Reddy Colony in Hanamkonda.
When her husband Krupakar told him that she does not meet visitors at the house, Reddy started shouting. “Reddy was abusing me verbally and demanded to know why would I not meet him at my house. When my husband said a police complaint would be lodged since he was creating a nuisance, Reddy said he does not mind going to jail. For nearly 20 minutes, he created a scene and defamed me,” Rajani told TOI.
“He walked in front of my house menacingly. He threatened me saying he would see how I would continue to work in Velair. He said even if I file a complaint to police, it would be of no use,” said Rajani. She later handed over a copy of her complaint to Warangal urban district collector Prashant Patil. She lodged the complaint with local police, demanding action be taken against Reddy.
In her complaint, she said that Reddy met her a week ago in her office. Narrating the sequence of events, Rajani said that Reddy had purchased ‘sada bainama’ (transaction only on a piece of white paper) land and insisted that she regularise it in his name as a patta land. Rajani told him that it cannot be done as the land ownership is in dispute. He also wanted that a piece of land that had been allotted for a cremation ground should be at the place announced earlier and not where the tahsildar had given.
Rajani said she had done it after verifying the survey number so that the land allotted would be legal. Reddy also demanded money be sanctioned under Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to a family. The tahsildar refused it on grounds that the groom was not 21 years as per the rules. “He called me three days ago and I gave him the same response. On Monday, he came to my house and threatened me,” she said.
