LUCKNOW: With 36 fresh dengue cases reported in city on Monday, the tally for this year touched 1,097, breaking 2016’s record when 1,089 dengue cases were reported.
In fact, the number of cases in October (652) alone this year was higher than the total number of cases reported in the entire year for every year since 2007, barring 2016. Besides, the seven dengue deaths of this year were all in October.
This was the highest after 2016 when 18 deaths were reported. However, chief medical officer Narendra Agarwal said that 2016 still holds the record for maximum number of dengue cases.

The spike in cases shows that civic agencies have not been able to perform their job to take preventive measures and maintain cleanliness required to provide healthy environment to citizens.
