Nagar Kirtan from Nankana Sahib to culminate in Sultanpur Lodhi today

SGPC sources informed that a red carpet will be laid from Gurdwara Ber Sahib to Gurdwara Sant Ghat. As both the Gurdwaras have great importance in Sikhism. Guru Nanak took a dip at Ber Sahib and appeared at Sant Ghat on third day.

A red carpet welcome has been arranged at Sultanpur Lodhi, SGPC firming up plans to shower flower petals through a helicopter during its passage in Sultanpur Lodhi towards Gurdwara Ber Sahib on Tuesday.

After passing through 17 states following its entry into India, the Nagar Kirtan that commenced from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan to mark the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev would culminate at Sultanpur Lodhi on Tuesday after a 96-day journey. The Nagar Kirtan did not visit Kartarpur Sahib during its journey.

It crossed Jalandhar Monday where a rousing welcome was given as the devotees eagerly waited to welcome it.

The Nagar Kirtan had also visited the five Takhts including Akal Takht Sahib, Kesh Garh Sahib, Patna Sahib, Hazur Sahib and Damdama Sahib. It crossed Delhi, Haryana, Himachal, UP, Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Orissa, Telangana during its journey.

Thousands of devotees have been a part of this Nagar Kirtan. SGPC’s Harbhajan Singh said that it is a great moment in the history that a Nagar Kirtan from the place of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev was coming to the place where he founded the Sikh religion in 15th century.

It is learnt that Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh will receive the Nagar Kirtan at Sultanpour Lodhi on Tuesday.
