Track the pollution level in your city
From #HowsTheJosh to #HowsTheSmoke, from #MuskuraiyeApLucknowMe-Hai to #GhabraiyeApLucknowMeHai, various hashtags along with hazy pictures of Nawabi-era monuments have been among the top trends on social media pages.

One Instagram post with the hashtag #smogoverlucknow posted by handle @dramnanaqvi, creatively played with the image of Indian superhero Shaktiman, with the caption ‘Ab to is smog ko Shaktiman hi kheench ke kahin door brahmand me chhod sakega’ (Only Shaktiman will be able to leave this smog in a far away universe). The post received 63 likes and a number of shares.

A Twitter user with handle @karanshah2405 posted a latenight video of driving in smog with the caption ‘Last night, with zero visibility in Lucknow, I realised my driver is a daredevil’. A number of people also posted pictures of their areas at early morning and afternoon, showing the dense smog enveloping the city gradually during the day.

Another resident @SeeemiKhan contrasted the air quality by sharing a picture of Rumi Darwaza during the 1990s and in 2019, and a picture of Teele Wali Masjid engulfed in toxic air, with the caption ‘Gard O Ghubar’.
While a few vented their anger on their FB and IG stories blaming those burning crackers contributing to air pollution during Diwali, a number of residents shared alternatives to stay safe in this coarse weather. “Guess that ‘one cracker’ did the wonders,” said Reema Mahajan on her post, while Savnit Gurnani shared pictures of some indoor plants to deal with bad air quality.
Darvesh Yadavendra trolled UP Minister Sunil Bharala for his comment on air pollution, by sharing a screenshot of the AQI (air quality index) exceeding the 400 mark, with the caption, “Yagya hi karva do”.
Another user @Sunny-Vaish shared, “Give me some sunshine, give me some rain, give me AQI less than one hundred and ten”.
