PATNA: Senior officials of the division are camping at major railway stations to monitor heavy passengers’ rush after Diwali and Chhath, said Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Ranjan Prakash Thakur on Tuesday.
There is heavy rush of passengers at Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Pataliputra Junction and Danapur station for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru bound trains.

“RPF men and women in adequate numbers have been deployed at Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal to ensure queue system for passengers boarding the general coaches,” he said.
Besides, RPF men in close coordination with Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal GRP, have been keeping a watch on passengers on each platform.
Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Adhaar Raj told this newspaper that railways has deployed additional number of ticket checking staff at Patna Junction to check unauthorized people on the station premises. Over 260 pairs of mail and express trains pass through Patna Junction every day. “Extra vigil is also being maintained on foot overbridges (FOBs) at Patna Junction by RPF men through CCTV cameras,” he said.
Railways has opened 20 additional ticket counters at Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Pataliputra Junction to cope with passengers’ rush. “Also, around 2,500 electronic boarding passes have been issued to passengers during the past three to four days only to travel comfortably in the unreserved general coaches of mail and express trains from Patna Junction,” Raj said, adding railways focused more this time on maintaining cleanliness, punctuality, availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply at Patna Junction and other major stations of the division.
