HYDERABAD: On the 32nd day of RTC employees’ strike on Tuesday, Bhainsa depot manager Janardhan was assaulted by unidentified persons when he was going to report for work. With CM K Chandrasekhar Rao setting the deadline for midnight of November 5 for striking RTC employees to join duty, some of them had decided to rejoin.
Janardhan, who suffered injuries on his leg and hands, was treated at a hospital.
The assailants wore masks. TSRTC JAC leaders, however, distanced themselves from the incident saying there was no violence during the strike and employees were not connected with the assault.
Tension prevailed at Miryalaguda bus stand as police removed a tent from the premises where the employees had been staging protests. The employees then moved to the ‘amaraveerula stupam’ (martyrs’ pylon), but were taken into custody. RTC unions condemned the police action.
