PATNA: Leader of opposition in the state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday hit out at the state government over the joint order issued by Madhepura district administration for Chhath.
One of the paragraphs in the order reads, “Tension occurs as drainwater is thrown on the way used by Chhath devotees... which leads to tension. Miscreants ...pass comments on Chhath devotees and womenfolk, which leads to disturbance of peace.
Lawlessness also occurs because of lewd comments on devotees and their family members.”
Though this joint order of the district magistrate and the SP was issued on October 23 by the confidential section, Tejashwi uploaded one of its pages to his Twitter handle on Monday and called the order as ‘malicious and disruptive’. “People of all castes and religions observe Chhath. Please don’t let the faith and communal harmony be disturbed,” read his statement.
He even cited the example of national crime records bureau which showed that Bihar was on top in communal riot cases registered nationwide in 2017.
