Murshidabad man lynched in Chhattisgarh
Behrampore: A 42-year-old daily wage worker from Murshidabad was lynched in Chhattisgarh on Monday for allegedly trying to rape a woman.
Chhattisgarh police informed their Murshidabad counterparts that Banirul Islam died at AIIMS Raipur where he was admitted after being thrashed by a mob. Local MLA Akhrujjaman met the victim’s family at Panparpara under Sammatinagar gram panchayat in Raghunathganj.
The Chhattisgarh police report stated that Banirul was caught attempting to rape a woman in Chhote Kapsi village in Kanker district and was thrashed by the locals.
Banirul’s widow Minu Bibi and neighbours rubbished the report. Bibi said: “My husband went just three months ago to provide for the family and support our son’s education. The labourer contractors were not paying him and as he repeatedly demanded the payment, they killed him.”
