MEERUT: Over a month after a 35-year-old police constable was found dead at his home in Meerut under suspicious circumstances, members of his family and scores of locals held a protest at police headquarters here, alleging that it was a murder and suspected the role of his wife in it.
Deepak Singh Raghav, who was posted at Lucknow Police Lines, was found hanging at his home in Meerut’s Shradhapuri area on October 2.
On Tuesday, Raghav’s kin held a protest at the office of additional director general (ADG) (Meerut zone) Prashant Kumar demanding an FIR in the case. The family members in their complaint alleged that local police was not registering FIR.
Speaking to TOI, the Meerut ADG said, “The family met me, and on their request, we will get the investigation done by crime branch.”
A constable of 2015 batch, Raghav is now survived by his wife and a one-year-old daughter. Initially, it was claimed that Raghav took the extreme step due to domestic dispute. But now, the aggrieved family is claiming it to be a murder.
They are suspecting the role of Raghav’s wife into his death. So far, it was treated to be a case suicide and no FIR was registered.
