Senior INLD leader Abhay Chautala Wednesday staged a walkout from the Haryana Assembly on the issue of withdrawal of criminal cases and immediate release of youths booked for violence during the 2016 Jat quota agitation.
On Tuesday, senior Congress leader Raghuvir Singh Kadian had raised a similar demand in the Assembly. When Abhay Chautala raised the issue Wednesday, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta said that Abhay had not given any notice to raise this issue adding that there was no Zero Hour or Question Hour in the House.
The Chief Minister said that the matter was sub-judice and sharing details on it in the Assembly won’t be appropriate. It prompted Abhay to stage a walkout from the House.
Wednesday was last day of the current Assembly Session. Before the House was adjourned sine die, the Assembly passed two Bills on the concluding day of first session of 14th Vidhan Sabha. These included the Haryana Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Haryana Service of Engineers Group A, Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department (Amendment), Bill, 2019.
